Job summary

Hays Accountancy & Finance are recruiting on behalf of a local SME to appoint an experienced Accountant into their finance team in Darlington. The role covers a broad range of accounting duties with visibility across the finance function and collaboration with key stakeholders.

You will manage month-end, forecasting, cashflow, VAT, and year-end activities, while contributing to process improvements and financial reporting for decision-making.

Qualifications

• As Accountant, you will have previous experience in accounting and be comfortable taking ownership of month-end and management accounting responsibilities.
• You may be qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience, with applications welcomed from ACCA, CIMA, ACA or AAT backgrounds, alongside experienced QBE accountants.
• You will possess strong Excel skills and the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.

• Preparation of monthly management accounts.
• Month-end reporting with accruals and prepayments.
• Balance sheet reconciliations and cashflow reporting.
