Job summary

Clark Wood Limited in Leeds is seeking an experienced Accounts Manager to lead the preparation and review of year-end financial statements and to manage a diverse client portfolio across sole traders, partnerships, and companies.

You will oversee ad-hoc advisory work, VAT reviews, and supervision of junior staff, while developing client relationships and supporting business development with a commercial, advisory mindset. Flexible working is available.

Accounts Manager – Leeds

Our Leeds office has experienced significant growth, and we are looking for an experienced Accounts Manager or Assistant Manager to join the team.

This is a client-facing role with a strong advisory element, working across a varied portfolio of sole traders, partnerships, limited companies, LLPs, trusts, charities, SMEs and OMBs.

The Role

• Supervising the preparation and review of year-end financial statements.
• Taking ownership of ad-hoc advisory and project work.
• Planning workloads and ensuring team deadlines are met.
• Reviewing VAT returns and supervising management accounts.
• Managing and developing a portfolio of client relationships.
• Financial management, including WIP and billing.
• Coaching and developing junior team members.
• Supporting business development and cross-departmental opportunities.
• Preparing and reviewing accounts using CCH or equivalent software.

About You

You will ideally be an ACA or ACCA qualified accountant with general practice experience across accounts, compliance and advisory work.

You should have:

• Strong technical accounts and compliance knowledge.
• Experience managing a varied client portfolio.
• Excellent client communication and relationship skills.
• Experience supervising and developing junior staff.
• Good knowledge of cloud accounting.
• A commercial and advisory approach.
