Veracity Group is seeking an experienced accountant to handle accounts payable and ensure compliance with HMRC requirements in the United Kingdom. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience in UK accounting, proficiency in accounting software, and strong communication skills.

This role requires the ability to prepare financial statements, manage payroll, and maintain compliance with statutory obligations, including UK VAT returns.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Handle accounts payable function.
  • Prepare and reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts.
  • Process electronic fund transfers and payroll in compliance with HMRC.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory obligations like UK VAT returns.

Job description

Qualifications
  • Advance Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or ERP systems)
  • At least 1‑2 years of experience in UK accounting and Australian experience will be an added advantage
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently & Quick Learner
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills with strong attention to detail
Responsibilities
  • Handling the accounts payable function
  • Prepare and reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts
  • Prepare and process electronic fund transfers (EFT), BPAY, cheques, and credit card payments
  • Generate and issue customer invoices accurately and on time
  • Process employee payroll in line with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) requirements
  • Month‑end journal postings
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Ensure compliance with statutory obligations including UK VAT returns, RTI submission and payroll tax
  • Maintain the general ledger, journals, and subsidiary accounts
  • Perform regular supplier and ledger reconciliation
