Job description
Overview

The purpose of this role is to work closely with the Manager to ensure a high level of service and quality work is delivered to a varied and interesting client base.

Responsibilities
  • Preparation and completion of statutory accounts, year-end accounts and rental accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships
  • Dealing with a varied client portfolio (T/O up to £2million) including OMBs, property investors, property developers, agricultural, retail etc.
  • Preparation of corporation tax returns and personal tax returns
  • Preparation of monthly or quarterly management accounts including forecasting and budgeting
  • Provide task support to fellow team members, sharing knowledge and providing guidance
  • Liaising with internal and/or third party external outsourcing
  • Finalising accounts under the overall control of the Manager
  • Organise your flow of work, allocating your assignments and managing your time as necessary taking into consideration your client deadlines and other constraints
  • Ensure work is completed within agreed time and budget
  • Liaise with third parties as required (HMRC, mortgage brokers, other members of your team, payroll bureau, etc)
  • Develop and maintain effective client relationships, including attending client premises as required and client meetings
  • Dealing with general incoming client queries and escalating when required
  • Identify cross selling opportunities
  • Opportunity to be involved in ad-hoc client projects
Qualifications
  • AAT qualified or Qualified by experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience gained in a practice setting
  • Up to date statutory accounts knowledge and sound accounting, corporate/personal tax and VAT technical knowledge is required
  • Experience of preparing management accounts (to include forecasting and budgeting)
  • Must possess a client focused attitude and have proven experience of building and maintaining relationships with clients
  • Experience of working with a variety of clients.
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Xero, SAGE, IRIS, QuickBooks and FreeAgent.
