Job summary

Sheridan Maine London in Bath seeks an Accountant to join the central finance team and oversee key areas of the financial close, reporting and accounting processes.

The role suits a qualified AAT or part-qualified (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) with strong knowledge of debits/credits, month-end, reconciliations and transactional finance.

Qualifications

• Qualified or part-qualified in accounting (AAT, CIMA/ACCA/ACA).
• Experience with month-end, reconciliations and reporting.
• Strong Excel and financial systems knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of key aspects of the month end process.
• Prepare and post month end journals (accruals, prepayments, depreciation).
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain and manage the fixed asset register.
• Prepare financial reports and schedules for month end and year end reporting.
• Ensure transactions recorded in line with controls.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and reconciliation issues.
• Support preparation of statutory accounts and audit requirements.
• Work with internal teams to provide accurate financial information.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls and reporting.

A dynamic organisation in Bath is seeking an Accountant to join their central finance team and take responsibility for key areas of the financial close, reporting and accounting processes.

The role will suit a qualified AAT or part-qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA) with strong knowledge of credits and debits, excellent attention to detail and experience working across month end, reconciliations and transactional finance.

Key responsibilities of the Accountant position include:

• Take ownership of key aspects of the month end process
• Prepare and post month end journals, including accruals, prepayments and depreciation

• Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules for month end and year end reporting
• Ensure transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with accounting controls

• Work closely with internal teams to provide accurate financial information
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls and reporting

• Strong Excel and financial systems skills

• The ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload effectively
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across the business
• A relevant accounting qualification or be working towards one, is desirable
