Job summary

NC Associates in Wirral is seeking an experienced Accountant to join an established practice. You will manage accounts for a varied client portfolio, handle VAT returns and payroll, and provide day‑to‑day accounting support.

The role requires independence, workload management, and direct client liaison. With a minimum of 5 years in practice, you will work on year‑end accounts for limited companies and advise on tax requirements, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years' experience working within an accountancy practice.
• Strong experience preparing limited company accounts and accounts for sole traders/partnerships.
• Good knowledge of VAT returns and payroll preparation.
• Strong bookkeeping and reconciliations with attention to detail.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Accountant Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Accountant to join a well-established accountancy practice in Wirral.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice professional who has a minimum of 5 years' experience working within an accountancy practice and is confident managing accounts for a varied portfolio of clients.

You will work with a range of clients, preparing accounts and supporting them with their day-to-day accounting and tax requirements. The role will suit someone who is comfortable working independently, managing their own workload and dealing directly with clients.

Accountant Responsibilities

• Preparing year-end accounts for limited companies
• Preparing accounts for sole traders and partnerships
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns
• Preparing payroll and associated payroll documentation
• Completing bookkeeping for a range of clients
• Preparing management accounts where required
• Assisting with tax returns and tax computationsCompleting balance sheet reconciliations
• Maintaining accurate accounting records
• Dealing directly with clients and responding to queries
• Managing a portfolio of clients and ensuring deadlines are met
• Liaising with HMRC and other relevant bodies
• Providing general accounting support and advice to clients

Accountant Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years' experience working within an accountancy practice
• Strong experience preparing limited company accounts
• Experience preparing accounts for sole traders and partnerships
• Good knowledge and experience of VAT returns
• Experience with payroll preparation
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping and reconciliations
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
• Confident communicating with clientsAbility to work independently and as part of a team
• AAT, ACCA or ACA qualification/studies would be advantageous but not essential
• Experience with accounting software such as Sage, Xero or QuickBooks would be beneficial
