This is an exciting and unique opportunity to lead our provision of local flood risk management services and surface water management to Lead Local Flood Authorities. We are seeking a flood risk manager at Associate Consultant level, with an established track record in delivering services within the sector, and experience working as a stakeholder or consultant for Lead Local Flood Authorities.
This role is ideal for candidates who are Chartered and have demonstrable experience in the Flood and Coast sector. You should be a dynamic individual capable of inspiring others and developing careers in local flood risk management.
We offer a comprehensive range of local flood risk services, from initial appraisals to business cases, detailed design, supervision, and support on statutory planning applications and land drainage consents.
About the Role
The role involves supporting clients in managing water and coastal environments sustainably and innovatively. Responsibilities include coordinating, quality assuring, and leading the delivery of Surface Water Management Plans, Local Flood Risk Management Strategies, and Business Cases, as well as supporting operational LLFA functions.
Additional duties involve leading proposals for local authority projects, developing and implementing business plans, supervising and mentoring junior staff, and managing small project teams.
Candidates should have a degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography, Water & Environmental Management, or related disciplines.
For candidates with a geography/science background: experience in coordinating, quality assuring, analyzing flood risk datasets, and producing related reports and strategies.
For engineering backgrounds: experience in feasibility assessments, design packages, engineering calculations, specifications, drawings, and overseeing site supervision.
Experience working with or for Lead Local Flood Authorities is essential, along with commercial awareness, project management skills, stakeholder engagement, and supervisory experience.
