Job summary

Great Yarmouth Borough Council is seeking a housing support worker to manage a supported housing scheme for single homeless persons. The role includes shift work to ensure staff presence at all times and requires helping residents develop life skills to become tenancy ready.

You will conduct inspections, support with welfare benefits, and coordinate with health, social care, training and education services to promote independence and daily life skills.

Job description

To provide housing management and associated housing related support at a supported housing scheme for single homeless persons. The role requires the post-holder to undertake shift work to ensure the scheme has a staff presence at all times.

• A well-managed accommodation scheme
• Residents are supported to develop life skills and become tenancy ready

Main responsibilities

• Day-to-day management of a supported accommodation scheme.
• Ensure that accommodation standards are maintained, including health, safety, and cleanliness.
• Conduct regular inspections of accommodation to ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards, ordering repairs and replacement goods as required.
• Ensure that all facilities are functioning correctly, and arrange for repair and maintenance as necessary.
• Undertake void inspections and order repairs
• Undertake sign ups to accommodation agreements, providing assistance with welfare benefit claims.
• Provide a safe and supportive environment for residents, offering guidance and assistance as needed.
• Support residents in accessing the services they need, including health, social care, training and education.
• Promote independence among residents, encouraging participation in daily life and skill-building activities.
• Assist in developing individual support plans for residents, liaising with other professionals when needed.
• Monitor residents' well-being, addressing any issues or concerns promptly.
