Access Advisory Panel Job Description

Location: British Airways, Waterside, Speedbird Way Harmondsworth, Middlesex, UB7 0GB.

Please note: This is not a full-time role. It involves attendance at regular panel meetings, with the first meeting scheduled for autumn this year, there may also be additional involvement throughout the year, based on business needs.

Our Access Advisory Panel is a key part of our commitment to ensure every one of our unique customers can enjoy equitable and inclusive travel experiences. As a member of the Access Advisory Panel your voice will help shape our products and services to ensure inclusion and accessibility are always at the forefront, from IT solutions to ground services, and onboard experiences.

Guided by the principle “Nothing about us, without us,” our panel includes individuals with a wide range of access needs and disabilities, visible and non-visible, to create a travel experience that is welcoming, inclusive, and enjoyable for everyone.

Your Role: Access Advisory Panel

As a panel member, you will:

  • Attend quarterly meetings with the Access Advisory Panel with potential additional involvement throughout the year, based on business needs.
  • Provide feedback on new initiatives, products, and services.
  • Share your lived experience to help us identify barriers and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with other panel members and our team to champion inclusion and accessibility.
  • Help ensure British Airways is a leader in providing equitable travel experiences for all.

What You’ll Bring

Essential Criteria:

  • A right to live and work in the UK.
  • Lived experience of visible and/or non-visible disabilities, as a person with accessibility needs or a carer.
  • A strong commitment and passion for improving accessibility and inclusion in aviation.
  • Willingness to openly share personal experiences and insights.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback on products, services, and initiatives.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to engage in meaningful discussions.
  • Enthusiasm for working alongside diverse individuals to drive positive change.
  • Understanding of broader accessibility challenges within the aviation industry.
  • Recent air travel experience, preferably within the last 18 months.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of using British Airways or other airline services.
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies, accessibility tools, or support services.
