Job summary

Neath Leisure Centre is seeking an Academy Swimming Instructor to deliver a range of swimming lessons in line with the STA teaching plan. You will work with children, provide parent feedback via Cap2, and maintain attendance and progress records, with potential supervision duties if NPLQ qualified.

The role requires good literacy, numeracy and relevant qualifications (STA/ASA Level 1/2, NPLQ, First Aid). A DBS check is required and duties include promoting the swimming programme and maintaining

Qualifications

• Candidates should show literacy and numeracy capable of handling forms and records.
• Essential to have STA/ASA Level 1/2 and NPLQ qualifications where possible.
• Desirable First Aid and disabled swimming instructor qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Deliver swimming lessons to all ability groups per the development plan.
• Instruct children attending the facility as part of the programme.
• Provide feedback to parents on lesson performance via Cap2.
• Maintain attendance, performance and progress records on Cap2.
• Assist in supervising the academy if NPLQ qualified.
• Ensure equipment is used and stored properly.
• Handle customer queries and complaints with a professional manner.
• Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and public image.
• Undertake regular training to update skills and knowledge.
• Assist in promotion and marketing of the Swimming Plan.
• Administer first aid as required and complete related documentation.
• Carry out administrative duties as required by management.
• Understand safeguarding relevant to the role.

Job Description

Overview

To provide swimming instruction in stages as per STA teaching plan for swimming.

Summary of Main Responsibilities

• To deliver a range of swimming lessons to all ability groups in line with the company’s swimming development plan
• To instruct children in swimming who attend the facility as part of the company’s swimming programme.
• To give information and feedback to parents when required on the child’s / adults swimming lesson performance via Cap2
• To carry out administrative tasks linked the learn to swim programme via Cap2
• To records information and maintain records on attendance, performance, and progress of swimmers via Cap2
• If NPLQ qualified, to assist in the supervision of the academy.
• To ensure that all equipment is properly used and put away neatly following its use.
• To promote good public relations by effectively dealing with customer queries and complaints.
• To demonstrate a positive public image by maintaining a high standard of personal appearance.
• To undertake regular training as required to ensure knowledge and skills are kept updated.
• To assist in the promotion and marketing of the Swimming Plan as required.
• To undertake appropriate training to continually update skills and knowledge as appropriate
• To administer first aid as required and complete relevant documentation and undertake first aid training as required (where appropriate)
• To carry out any administrative duties relating to the post as required by the management.
• Understanding safeguarding relevant to role.

General

• To undertake such other duties which may be reasonably expected of the post-holder, commensurate with the salary grade of the post and which are within their capabilities.

This post requires an enhanced DBS check.
