Job summary

Philip Morant School and College, part of the Sigma Trust, is seeking an Academic Mentor on a fixed-term basis until 31 August 2027. The role supports students, including those with English as an Additional Language, within a secondary school setting to help them access learning.

The successful candidate will be a graduate exploring teaching, with recent experience working with children, and the ability to take initiative and work without close supervision.

Qualifications

• A graduate who is considering teaching as a career.
• Successful recent experience working with children in a learning environment.
• The ability to use initiative and work without direct supervision, taking responsibility for tasks.

Responsibilities

• Supervising a discreet provision in the school for students who cannot access a full-time provision.
• Coordinating the day-to-day educational provision of the young people in the provision, particularly those with English as an Additional Language.
• Providing support to students in all curriculum areas across the school or supporting students with learning, behavioural, communication, social, sensory or physical difficulties.
