Job summary

The Iona Community seeks an Abbey Worship Co-ordinator to ensure welcoming, well-supported worship at Iona Abbey both in the church and online. You will live with the Resident Team, assist service leaders, and maintain audio-visual systems.

You will train volunteers, manage recordings and livestreams, and support shared team tasks. A strong hospitality ethos and practical AV skills are essential for this role on Iona.

Qualifications

• Experience in hospitality or charitable settings.
• Practical experience operating live sound and AV systems.
• Ability to train staff and volunteers in technical use.
• Good IT and organisational skills; calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Operate and troubleshoot sound/AV equipment during services and events.

## Abbey Worship Co-ordinator* The Iona Community* Full time* £9,350* On site: Isle of Iona* Closing 27th November 2026* Advertised from 3rd November 2026* Residential Team allowance of £779.17 per month (£9350 p.a.); all rent, bills and food included. 3 year Fixed Term post#### RoleThe Iona Community is seeking an Abbey Worship Co-ordinator to help make worship at Iona Abbey welcoming, wellsupported and accessible, both in the Abbey Church and online.Working as part of the Resident Team is more than a job; it is a way of life. You will live and work alongsidecolleagues and guests, sharing in daily tasks, worship and recreation.You will support those leading and taking part in services, and ensure that individuals, groups and day visitors feelwelcome in the Abbey Church. You will also maintain and operate the sound and audio-visual systems, train staffand volunteers to use them safely, and manage recordings and live-streams of services, including our dailyYouTube services.The role also involves looking after Abbey Church resources, supervising the Abbey Church volunteer and contributingto shared team responsibilities. Early and late shifts are part of the rhythm of Abbey life.We are looking for someone with:* A strong commitment to the ministry of hospitality and the common life, and a welcoming, pastoral approach to people of all backgrounds and circumstances* Practical experience of operating sound and audio-visual systems in a live setting, and of resolving routine technical problems* Experience of helping others use technical equipment safely and confidently* Experience of supervising and supporting people in their work* Good organisational and IT skills, with the ability to stay calm and flexible when the unexpected happens* Emotional intelligence, compassion and warmth* The ability to undertake the physical aspects of the role, including manual handling and moving furniture and equipment* A willingness to participate in residential community life and provide cover for colleaguesExperience of preparing for worship and familiarity with equipment such as the Allen & Heath QU-16 digital mixingconsole would be welcome, but are not essential.This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
