Job summary

TaxAssist Shepperton is looking for an apprentice to support the finance team while working towards AAT Level 3 through Solveway Apprenticeships. The role offers hands-on experience in preparing financial statements, budgets, reports and month-end processes.

Starting 31 October 2026 in Shepperton, the 1‑year apprenticeship develops skills in financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow and VAT. The pathway leads to progression into more senior accounting roles within the firm.

Qualifications

• Must have GCSE English and Maths (grades 4+).
• Prior finance or accounts experience is desirable.
• AAT Level 2 qualification is required or in progress.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and data entry.
• Experience using accounting software such as Xero or Sage.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in the preparation of financial statements and management accounts.
• Supporting month end and year end processes.
• Preparing and posting journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Assisting with budget preparation and monitoring.
• Supporting cash flow forecasting.
• Assisting with VAT returns and tax related processes.
• Conducting balance sheet reconciliations.
• Analyzing financial data to support decision making.
• Maintaining accurate financial records with internal controls.
