Job summary

John Lewis Partnership is hiring a Driver Technician Trainee in the United Kingdom. You will undergo a comprehensive 3‑month trainee programme to become a fully qualified Customer Delivery Technician with a C1 driving licence, then join a 2‑person delivery crew to install products at customers’ homes.

The role involves heavy lifting and delivering large items, with a 41‑hour week across Monday to Saturday (06:00–17:00) for four days. Salary is up to £31,020 depending on experience.

About the role

As a Driver Technician Trainee, you'll be supported through our extensive 3-month trainee programme to become a fully qualified John Lewis Customer Delivery Technician with a C1 driving licence. Once you're fully trained, you'll have the unique opportunity of bringing our distinctive John Lewis service right to our customers' door and installing the products they love into their homes (such as furniture, large electrical appliances, sound systems and TV sets) as part of a 2-person delivery crew. Due to the nature of these roles, we require all applicants to be 18 or over by their start date.

Key Responsibilities

Please note that this role involves heavy lifting. You will spend a lot of time delivering large items such as sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds, and mattresses.

Essential skills/experience you’ll need

• UK B-Category manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
• Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
• Have great verbal communication skills both over the phone and in person.
• Good understanding of technology and an interest in installation.

Desirable skills/experience you may have

• Prior experience in installation and customer delivery services.
• Previous role model or team leader experience

Salary up to £31,020 depending on experience.

Full time work (41 hours) across Monday to Saturday 06:00-17:00, working 4 days a week
