Job summary

John Lewis Partnership is seeking a Driver Technician Trainee in the United Kingdom to join a 2-person delivery crew and develop into a fully qualified technician with a C1 licence. The 3-month trainee programme supports you to install and set up home products for customers.

You will spend time loading deliveries, driving within regulations, and performing installations such as TVs and appliances, with a focus on safety and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• UK B-Category manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
• Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
• Good verbal communication skills both over the phone and in person.
• Interest in technology and installation.

Responsibilities

• Be an ambassador for the John Lewis brand with excellent customer service.
• Perform daily checks and assist in loading the vehicle with deliveries while coordinating with warehouse teams.
• Show respect for customers' homes and resolve issues to satisfy the customer.
• Install products such as wall-mount TVs, appliances, and other installations efficiently.
• Keep up to date with new products and technologies to perform the role well.
• Adhere to driving regulations including Working Time Directive and EU rules for safety.
• Heavy lifting is required when delivering large items like sofas and white goods.

About the role

Due to the nature of this role, applicants must be 18 years or over to apply.As a Driver Technician Trainee, you'll be supported through our extensive 3-month trainee programme to become a fully qualified John Lewis Customer Delivery Technician with a C1 driving licence.Once you're fully trained, you'll have the unique opportunity of bringing our distinctive John Lewis service right to our customers' door and installing the products they love into their homes (such as furniture, large electrical appliances, sound systems and TV sets) as part of a 2-person delivery crew.Due to the nature of these roles, we require all applicants to be 18 or over by their start date.

Key Responsibilities

• - Being an ambassador for the John Lewis brand with great customer service is your number one priority.
• - Perform daily checks and assist in loading your vehicle with the daily deliveries while collaborating with the warehouse team.
• - Show great respect and courtesy for the customer's home, and handle unexpected situations to find the best possible solution for your customers.
• - Installing various products (including wall-mount TVs, integrated appliances, and hard-wired appliance installations). This will be completed efficiently and quickly for our customers, and will demonstrate how they work once installed.
• - Keeping up to date with new products and technologies to perform your role at your best.
• - Adhere to all legal driving regulations, including the Working Time Directive and EU regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
• - Please note that this role involves heavy lifting. You will spend a lot of time delivering large items such as sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds, and mattresses.

Essential skills/experience you'll need

• - UK B-Category manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
• - Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
• - Have great verbal communication skills both over the phone and in person.
• - Good understanding of technology and an interest in installation.

Desirable skills/experience you may have

• - Prior experience in installation and customer delivery services.
• - Previous role model or team leader experience

Full time vacancy 41 hours a week, working 4 days a week, on a 5 week rota AM shift- Monday-Saturday 06:00-17:00 PM shift Monday-Friday 10:30-21:30 & Saturday 07:00-18:00
