Job summary

Driver Hire is seeking a reliable Recovery Truck Driver to operate our twin deck 7.5T vehicles, collecting end-of-life vehicles to depots in the Essex area.

You will perform safety inspections, complete logs, and coordinate with dispatchers while meeting road-safety standards; this is a full-time permanent role based in the Basildon area, with on-site parking and company pension benefits.

Qualifications

• Valid driving licence covering 7.5 ton, Class 2 or Class 1.
• Experience as a commercial driver, preferably with recovery vehicles.
• Excellent time management and communication with clients.

Responsibilities

• Operate recovery lorries safely and efficiently to transport Vehicles to designated locations.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
• Load and unload end of life vehicles, securing it properly.
• Maintain delivery logs and documentation.
• Adhere to traffic laws and regulations.

The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial driving, particularly with recovery trucks.

Job description

As a Recovery Truck Driver, you will be responsible for transporting end of life vehicles from various locations, within the local Essex area, back to one of our deports.

Duties

• Operate recovery lorries safely and efficiently to transport Vehicles to designated locations.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
• Load and unload end of live vehicles, securing it properly to prevent damage during transit.
• Maintain accurate delivery logs and documentation as required.
• Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while on the road.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards throughout the transportation process.

Requirements

• Valid driving licence covering 7.5 ton, Class 2 or Class 1
• Proven experience as a commercial driver, preferably with recovery vehicles
• Previous delivery driver experience is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of road safety regulations and best practices.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently.
• Good communication skills for interaction with clients and team members.
• Ability to handle physical demands of the job.
• Salary depending on experience
• From £40,000 to £42,000 per year subject to experience
