Historic England offers a 6-week paid placement in Cambridge, with hybrid working between the Cambridge office and home. You will join the Listing Team within the Business Support Team to learn listing and casework processes and develop research and admin skills.

Historic England have a fantastic opportunity for you to join us as a Listing and Casework Assistant (6 week placement).
This is a full time or part-time 6 week paid placement funded by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority. We offer hybrid working where you are based in the Cambridge office and from home.
As part of the funding agreement with Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority to be eligible for this placement you must live in Cambridgeshire or Peterborough, be at least 18 when you start and not be in employment, formal education or training. If you are aged 18-21 you can work a maximum of 30 hours per week. If you are over 22 years of age you can work full-time 36 hours per week.
You will have the opportunity to gain experience in co-ordinating listing and development advice casework; research and assess historic places including buildings, archaeological remains and designed landscapes; and log and process casework.
As a Listing and Casework Assistant you will be based in the Business Support Team, but will focus on work for the Listing Team.
You will have the opportunity to learn and develop in one or more of these areas.

This placement will give you knowledge, skills and experience that will enhance your future career prospects. Once you have completed your time with us you will have gained work experience and an overview of historic environment advice that will enable you to build a career within many areas of the heritage sector. You will also have gained administration, research and report writing skills which are transferable to a range of industries.
You will have gained basic knowledge of planning processes and heritage protection which will be valuable to roles in public sector organisations such as local authorities, smaller private sector planning consultancies, and heritage charities.
