Job summary

Generator Power in Reading is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join our depot team. The role is predominately field-based, servicing, repairing and responding to breakdowns on customer sites and hire fleet, with night shifts on a 4 on, 4 off cycle from 19:00 to 08:00.

You will perform planned maintenance, fault diagnosis and rectification, site installations and ensure paperwork and asset safeguarding are followed; the position includes on-call duties and travel to client sites as required.

Qualifications

• Experience on generators/plant equipment/heavy engineering (or similar).

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned service and maintenance work on hire fleet and customers' equipment.
• Fault location, diagnosis and rectification to hire fleet and customers equipment.
• Preparation of equipment for hire.
• Installation and commissioning of power to temporary site accommodation.
• Loading and unloading of vehicles.
• Carry out duties on call out rota system.
• Carry out general housekeeping to ensure work areas are tidy.
• Completion and submission of all company paperwork as per procedure.
• Safeguard all Company assets; nothing leaves the depot without correct paperwork.
• Ensure company vehicle or occasional loan vehicle supplied is kept clean and serviced within manufacturer guidelines and defects are reported promptly.

Job Details:

• 4 on, 4 off Night shift 19:00 - 08:00 13 hour shift (12 hours paid 1 hour break) Weekends and bank holidays are part of the normal rota.
• Predominately field based role on customer sites carrying out routine servicing, repairs and responding to breakdowns.
• Salary/rate to be discussed at interview.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Carry out planned service and maintenance work on both hire fleet and customers equipment.
• Fault location, diagnosis and rectification to hire fleet and customers equipment.
• Preparation of equipment for hire.
• Installation and commissioning of power to temporary site accommodation. (Wiring in where appropriate).
• Loading and unloading of vehicles.
• Carry out duties on call out rota system.
• Carry out general housekeeping to ensure work areas are tidy.
• Completion and submission of all company paperwork as per procedure.
• Safeguard all Company assets; nothing leaves the depot without correct paperwork.
• Ensure company vehicle or occasional loan vehicle supplied, is kept clean and tidy at all times, serviced within manufacturer’s guideline, and ensure any defects are notified to correct parties and rectified in a timely manner.
