Job summary

The Village Surgery in Poole invites an innovative, self-motivated GP to join for 4-6 sessions per week in a friendly partnership. You will bring ideas for progressive development and be involved in implementing new processes within a supportive team, balancing clinical duties with a strong commitment to patient care.

The post holder will manage a patient caseload in primary care, ensuring high standards of care for registered and temporary patients, while working within a democratic practice

Responsibilities

  • Surgery/telephone consultations, on-call duties and queries, occasional visits.
  • Generate, check and sign repeat prescriptions and deal with queries.
  • Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
  • Contribute to attainment of QoF and local/national initiatives.
  • Undertake normal clinical duties and responsibilities of a GP in primary care.
  • Prescribe in line with the practice formulary and clinical needs.

Job description

The Village Surgery in Poole seeks an innovative, self-motivated GP for 4-6 sessions per week. A GP who is keen to incorporate his or her ideas for any progressive development into the practice and be fully involved with the options to put new processes in place. We are a democratic, fair and friendly partnership with a great team ethos and can genuinely offer you a good work/life balance., The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.


Clinical Responsibilities


  • In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery/telephone consultations, on-call duties, and queries, occasional visits, generating, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork including completing medical reports as required.

  • Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate

  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems,

  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols

  • Onward referrals to other care providers as appropriate

  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards

  • Contributing to the attainment of all quality indicators (QoF) and any local or national initiative that the practice takes part in

  • In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal clinical duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.


About us

We are a friendly and supportive Practice with an excellent Primary Care Team comprising of 5 GPs (2 male and 3 female), an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 2 Practice Nurses, 2 HCA's and 16 admin/reception staff. We are located within the university and support the students of the Arts University. The team is supported by the Partners, Practice, Deputy Practice and Reception Managers. We are part of the North Bournemouth Primary Care Network (NBPCN), and also supported by the NBPCN team members which include Pharmacists, First Contact Physios, Acute frailty visiting team, Social Prescribers, working with Dorset Mind and a Mental Health Practitioner. Supporting our Severe Mental Health patients we have a network SMI worker. Our PCN Digital Care Co-Ordinators work alongside the practices to offer support in meeting the PCN DES requirements.
