Job summary

Ganymede Solutions Ltd. is seeking a 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer for a five‑month contract in London. The role is hybrid, with on‑site work from London Bridge and remote support as required.

You will own escalated incidents and deliver upgrades across cloud and on‑premises environments to maintain availability, security and performance. You will work with Windows Server, AD, VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter and Azure (VMs, storage, networking, Entra ID) and contribute to change management,

Qualifications

• Strong Windows Server administration and Active Directory
• Experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter

• Proven ability to manage incidents under ITIL-like change control

3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer – Contract

London / Hybrid

Inside IR35 – 5 month contract

Assignment Rate - £500 per day PAYE Umbrella

Looking for your next infrastructure contract where you can combine complex troubleshooting with hands-on project delivery? This five-month assignment offers the opportunity to apply your Microsoft, VMware and Azure expertise across an enterprise environment.

Working on a hybrid basis from London Bridge, you’ll tackle escalated infrastructure incidents while delivering upgrades, migrations and technical improvements across cloud and on-premises systems. Your work will help maintain the availability, security and performance of infrastructure that supports day-to-day operations.

You’ll take ownership of complex incidents and problems, investigate underlying causes and implement lasting fixes. Alongside operational support, you’ll deliver agreed infrastructure work packages, contributing to technical planning, implementation, testing, rollback arrangements and handover.

Your technical background will include strong Windows Server administration, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and PowerShell, together with practical experience of patching, monitoring, backup and recovery. You’ll also bring confident VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter administration skills, covering availability, capacity, performance and lifecycle upgrades.

Hands‑on Azure experience is essential, including virtual machines, storage, networking, Microsoft Entra ID, access controls, monitoring and backup. You’ll be comfortable working within formal incident, problem and change management processes, balancing urgent support requirements with planned project milestones.

You’ll have at least three years’ recent experience providing third‑line infrastructure support in an enterprise environment. Relevant Microsoft certification or equivalent recent practical experience is required, while VMware certification, ITIL knowledge and Microsoft 365 administration experience would strengthen your application.

Clear communication matters as much as technical capability. You’ll produce practical support documentation, keep stakeholders informed and share knowledge with service desk, second-line and field engineering colleagues. The assignment includes remote and on‑site support, with participation in an on‑call escalation rota where agreed within the contract.
