Job summary

Barnfield Construction Limited is seeking a 360 Machine Driver to join our Groundworks teams on local sites in the Nelson area. You will operate heavy plant machinery, position equipment, and support earthworks, civils and drainage tasks to keep sites productive and safe.

You will hold a valid driver’s license and CPCS or NPORS ticket, with proven experience on construction sites. Expect 7.30am–4.30pm (Mon-Thu) and 7.30am–3.30pm on Fridays; 23 days annual leave plus bank holidays.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and CPCS/NPORS certification required.
• Proven experience operating heavy plant or commercial vehicles on construction sites.
• Basic mechanical knowledge for routine checks and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Operate 360 machinery as part of groundworks teams on local sites.
• Position equipment and load/unload supplies in coordination with banksmen.
• Perform daily pre- and post-operation checks, clean and lubricate equipment.
• Report or fix minor mechanical issues and maintain a safe work zone.
• Coordinate with groundworkers and site supervisors to ensure smooth operations.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for 360 Machine Drivers to work with our Groundworks teams on a variety of our sites locally. Operate MachinerySite Support - Assist earthworks, civils, and drainage teams by accurately positioning equipment and loading/unloading supplies. Conduct daily pre- and post-operation checks, clean equipment, lubricate moving parts, and report or fix minor mechanical issues. Follow strict health and safety protocols, wear personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a hazard-free work zone. Coordinate movements clearly with banksmen, groundworkers, and site supervisors.

• Certifications: Valid driver’s license, CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme), or NPORS (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme) ticket.
• Experience: Proven background operating heavy plant machinery or commercial vehicles in construction or civil infrastructure settings.
• Mechanical Skills: Basic understanding of machine parts and troubleshooting capabilities for routine checks.

Hours and Holidays

Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4.30pm, Friday 7.30am to 3.30pmAnnual leave is 23 days (plus 8 bank holidays) per year.
