This is a greatopportunity to join a nationally recognised assistive technology team and,through jointly leading our technical team, to support the team to maintain andimprove its excellence in provision of specialised assistive technology.
BarnsleyAssistive Technology delivers specialised services for Augmentative andAlternative Communication and Environmental Control across Yorkshire and theHumber. The team is directly commissioned by NHS England to deliver these twospecialised services. The team has an excellent national and internationalreputation for quality, innovation and research and development and has stronglinks with the University of Sheffield.
We are lookingto recruit a registered Clinical Technologist/Healthcare Science Practitionerto work as a Lead Technologist as part of our Assistive Technology team. If successful, you will be jointlyresponsible for leading our technical team of specialist Clinical TechnologistClinical Engineers providing specialised Assistive Technology across Yorkshireand Humber. We are particularly looking for someone who can have responsibilityfor the delivery of the mechanical and mounting elements of the technicalservice, including the management of the engineering workshop.

If successfulas well as leading the team you will have a direct role in supporting the needsof children and adults through the provision and technical support ofcommunication aids and environmental controls (including computer accessequipment). You will help deliver the high quality services to our clients thatthey expect. You and the team willensure specialised access equipment is setup and maintained safely andeffectively. You will be responsible for a team that manages and provides thousandsof items of technology each year. You will also be responsible for ensuringthat this technology is provided in the most efficient and effective way forour clients including ensuring that we respond to faults and amendmentrequests in a timely way.
You will haveknowledge of quality management systems and contribute to the maintenance ofour CECOPs accreditation.
The people youvisit may be children and adults with a range of underlying disabilities andyour role will be to support installation and provision of specialistcommunication aids and environmental controls (including computer accessequipment). This will include fault response and planned and preventativemaintenance.
Access to anduse of a car for work is thus essential and you will be expected to be basedfrom and travel from home for some of the week, where this minimises travel andmakes appointments more effective.
