Job summary

IMT Resourcing Solutions is seeking a 2nd Line IT Engineer in Cheltenham, offering hybrid working. You will provide high-quality 2nd line support across customer environments and own tickets through to resolution.

You'll manage Windows and Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and networking, with opportunities to work on cloud and server infrastructures and to contribute to service improvements.

Qualifications

• 2nd line IT support or IT engineer experience.
• Strong knowledge of Windows and Microsoft 365.
• Experience with Active Directory and user administration.
• Good networking understanding (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP).
• Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills.
• Experience with cloud and server environments.
• MSP experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide 2nd line technical support across customer environments.
• Investigate and resolve escalated hardware, software and connectivity issues.
• Support Microsoft 365, Windows Server and Active Directory.
• Troubleshoot networking issues including DNS, DHCP and TCP/IP.
• Support laptops, desktops, servers and other business IT equipment.
• Assist with cloud technologies and Microsoft-based infrastructure.
• Carry out installations, upgrades and technical changes.
• Provide remote and occasional onsite support to customers.
• Take ownership of tickets through to resolution.
• Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation.
• Escalate complex issues to senior engineers where appropriate.
• Contribute to infrastructure projects and ongoing service improvements.

Location: Cheltenham – Hybrid Working

Salary: Up to £37,500 + Benefits

About the Role

Our client is an established IT services business providing managed IT support and technical solutions to a diverse range of business customers.

What You'll Do:

• Provide 2nd line technical support across a range of customer environments
• Investigate and resolve escalated hardware, software and connectivity issues
• Support Microsoft 365, Windows Server and Active Directory
• Troubleshoot networking issues including DNS, DHCP and TCP/IP
• Support laptops, desktops, servers and other business IT equipment

What We're Looking For:

• Previous experience in a 2nd Line IT Support or IT Engineer role
• Strong knowledge of Windows and Microsoft 365
• Experience with Active Directory and user administration
• Good understanding of networking, including DNS, DHCP and TCP/IP
• Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills
• Experience supporting cloud and server environments
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
• Ability to manage your own workload and prioritise effectively
• Previous MSP experience would be advantageous
