Qualifications

• 3+ years in a 1st or 2nd Line IT support role.
• Full UK Driving Licence required.
• Confident working onsite and independently.

• Assist the Service Desk during high-volume periods.
• Support and implement VOIP platforms.

As a Second Line Engineer, you’ll be based at the Manchester office, working across multiple client sites when needed. You’ll support both internal and external IT environments, assisting with installations, escalated incidents, and ongoing technical support.

You’ll be the go-to person for resolving more complex issues, mentoring junior engineers, and delivering excellent service across a wide client base. You’ll also have the option to get involved in small to medium project work, and the continued improvement of documentation and processes.

Your Responsibilities

• Resolve 1st and 2nd line support tickets, both remotely and onsite
• Assist the Service Desk during high-volume periods
• Support and implement VOIP platforms
• Contribute to infrastructure and technical project work
• Provide match day IT support (with TOIL) at client sports venues
• Help maintain accurate documentation and network diagrams
• Work closely with 3rd parties and escalate when needed
• Deliver technical input to support the Sales team where necessary

Who They’re Looking For

You’ll bring experience, energy, and a hunger to progress your career beyond the standard support role.

Must-Have:

• 3+ years in a 1st or 2nd Line IT support role
• Hands-on with:
• Windows Server 2012–2022
• Windows 10/11
• Microsoft 365
• Active Directory (on-prem & Azure)
• TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP
• Hyper-V or VMware
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Confident working onsite and independently

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience in an MSP
• LAN/WAN hardware knowledge (Switches, Routers, Firewalls)
• Exposure to VOIP, SIP, Fibre, ADSL/VDSL
• Experience with Ubiquiti, SonicWALL, or Fortinet
• Relevant technical certifications
