Job summary

Superyacht Crew UK seeks a skilled 2nd Engineer to join a private and charter motor yacht on an 2:2 rotation. The yacht operates in Spain during winter with a scheduled yard period in February and March. Ideal candidates hold SV Second Engineer CoC; EOOW Unlimited is desirable.

Strong technical foundation and ambition for continued progression towards Chief Engineer are essential. Previous yacht experience is preferred but strong commercial or cruise ship background will also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Join private and charter yacht on an 2:2 rotation.
• Maintain and oversee engineering systems during voyage and yard periods.

The Candidate Specification

We are recruiting for a 2nd Engineer to join a private and charter motor yacht on an 2:2 rotation. The yacht will be based in Spain over the winter, with a yard period planned for February and March.

The successful candidate must hold a minimum SV Second Engineer CoC or equivalent. An EOOW Unlimited would be highly desirable but is not essential. We are looking for someone with a strong technical foundation who is motivated to continue progressing through their engineering qualifications and ultimately work towards a Chief Engineer position.

Previous yacht experience would be preferred, although candidates coming from a strong commercial or cruise ship engineering background will also be considered. This would particularly suit someone who is ambitious, keen to learn and looking for a programme that will support their continued professional development.

The position offers an 8 weeks on, 8 weeks off rotation alongside a generous annual training allowance, 13th-month bonus and annual salary review. The start date is flexible, although December would be preferred to allow the successful candidate to be onboard ahead of the upcoming yard period.
