Job description

2821 - Trainee Paediatric Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Are you a dedicated healthcare professional looking to advance your career in Paediatric Emergency Care? We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join our friendly and forward-thinking team at Barnsley Hospital.

As a Trainee ACP, you will start as a Band 6 and progress to Band 7 upon completion of three core modules. Once successfully completed the full course and competencies, you will be uplifted to Band 8a.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop advanced clinical skills, work with a dynamic emergency team, and make a real difference to patient and family care.

We are committed to the growth and development of the ACP role and are keen to support education and training of our teams and service.

Main duties of the job

Once qualified, you will practice advanced nursing within the Framework for Advanced Practice. Core service delivery is covered by four pillars of practice: Clinical Practice, Management and Leadership, Education, and Research.

You will provide expert identification, assessment, treatment, and management of the acutely ill child, using complex communication skills, judgment, discretion, and decision-making.

You will be expected to work as an autonomous Paediatric Advanced Clinical Practitioner, working within your sphere of competence, providing highly specialist assessment and intervention, which contributes to the diagnosis and management of acutely ill patients.

You will monitor and improve standards of care through evidence-based practice, supervision, teaching, supporting colleagues, providing professional leadership, and being a role model.

You will support junior medical staff, sharing clinical workload and enabling junior doctors to achieve their training and development requirements.

You will participate in clinical governance within the service by undertaking and participating in audit and research as part of the multidisciplinary team within the training programme.

You will provide leadership to nursing staff and junior doctors regarding training and development, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care.
