Vacancy Description

You will be a Nursing Associate working within a multidisciplinary team and carry out a diverse range of duties. As a Band 4 Nursing Associate within the team’ you will be regularly supported and supervised by a nominated Band 5 Nurse, and you will be encouraged to take personal responsibility for clinical supervision and your continued professional development plan.

  • You will be required to undertake the administration of medications; however, these will not include medications deemed as high risk
  • You will actively promote teamwork, respect, integrity, accountability, excellence and compassion within the clinical team in accordance with the Trust values and Code of Conduct
  • You are required to maintain links with your professional body and provide evidence for the revalidation process
  • You will provide support to the nurse leadership within the multidisciplinary team and ensure the effective assessment, formulation, planning and monitoring of care given to service users

  • You will exercise professional accountability and responsibility using skills, knowledge and expertise in changing environments, across clinical boundaries and in unfamiliar situations as outlined within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct
  • You will be required to offer clinical and managerial leadership to Health Care Support Workers as part of your role within the team. You may be required to take on tasks that require you to operate electronic staffing record systems such as PDR/supervision
  • You will maintain a positive and open attitude towards organisational change and service development
  • You will work flexibly by working a rotational shift pattern including weekend and night duty to meet the needs of the ward and the wider network
  • To move clinical areas at either short notice or no notice in order to meet the changing needs of the service
  • To participate in the process of internal rotation as and when required. To be compliant with all mandatory training

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI) Lancaster and Westmorland General (WGH) Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom hospital and GP practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe and Ulverston Community health centre.FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services with full Emergency Department and Critical/ Coronary Care Units and various Consultant Lead Services.WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care, including Outpatient, Diagnostics, Therapies, Day Case, Inpatient Surgery. Community Facilities provide a local Outreach Service and Diagnostics within Morecambe Bay.Our Community Services for adults are provided in people’s homes, Community Centres, Clinics, GP Practices, Community Hospitals and our General Hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independence, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, health educations, advice and support.
