Job summary

Briggs Marine in the United Kingdom seeks an Engine Room/Technical Officer to maintain and repair all machinery and electrical equipment on our vessel, ensuring safe and reliable operation. You will work daily with the Master, plan maintenance with minimum disruption, supervise bunkering, and coordinate fuel/oil transfers while complying with STCW and environmental standards.

Qualifications

  • Approved Engine Course Level II is required.
  • STCW Regulations training is required.
  • Proven track record on small vessels.
  • Knowledge of vessel operations, ICT Office applications and fleet management systems.
  • Experience with operation of all technical installations on board.

Responsibilities

  • Consult daily with the Master to optimise economy and keep the Master informed of engine room and deck equipment issues.
  • Ensure compliance with Oil and Environmental Pollution Prevention Legislation and that crew are familiar with Emergency Procedures and Contingency Plans.
  • Plan all maintenance and repairs to minimise disruption and maximise reliability and availability of plant.
  • Carry out regular inspections of machinery and machinery spaces.
  • Be responsible for bunkering and ensuring both quantity and quality are as ordered.
  • Arrange transfers of fuel/oil/ballast/fresh water and coordinate with the Master before actioning.

Job description

Overall responsibility for maintenance and repair of all machinery and electrical equipment (deck and engine) onboard the vessel. Building effective relationships with external stakeholders to instill trust and confidence in the Company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consult at least daily with the Master to achieve the maximum economy consistent with the minimum efficiency required.Keeping the Master fully informed of any occurrences in the engine room or deck equipment which might affect navigation or the essential services under his or her control.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Oil and Environmental Pollution Prevention Legislation and to ensure that all responsible crew are familiar with Emergency Procedures, Contingency Plans and capable of operating all Safety and Pollution Prevention equipment and appliance.
  • Ensure that all Planned Maintenance and both normal and emergency repair work is carried out.Ensuring that all work is planned for minimum disruption to the vessel’s overall programme and maximum reliability and availability of the plant.
  • Make regular inspections of machinery and machinery spaces.
  • Be responsible for the bunkering of the vessel and ensuring that the quantity and quality is as ordered.
  • Arranging all transfers of fuel/lubricant oil/ballast/fresh water and checking plans with the Master prior to actioning.
The Candidate
  • Approved Engine Couse Level II
  • Training according to STCW Regulations
  • Proven track record of working on small vessels
  • Knowledge of the operational processes of the vessel, ICT Office applications and fleet management systems
  • Knowledge of and experience with the operation of all technical installations on board
