The Lothian Clinical Health Psychology Service is very pleased to be advertising this permanent Band 8A (0.2wte) Applied Psychologist post. This post provides a specialist national service across all Scottish Health Boards (hosted in NHS Lothian) to people who have been infected with Blood Borne Viruses (BBV) through the receipt of historical contaminated blood or blood products, as well as those affected, such as members of their immediate family. This post presents an excellent opportunity to develop and extend psychological competencies in a specialist setting, supported by an experienced and enthusiastic Clinical Health Psychology team.
The role requires relevant knowledge and clinical skills in working within physical health settings and liaising with medical teams. In addition to holding a clinical case load, the post holder will also contribute to consultation and training delivery, as required. The ongoing IBCA (Infected Blood Compensation Authority) process continues to have a significant impact on those infected and their families, so the post will also involve developing service delivery to meet the changing needs of those who access the service. Consideration of flexible working arrangements would be possible.
This post would be part of the wider Clinical Health Psychology Team in NHS Lothian. This is a large, friendly, and welcoming team, working across a range of specialist services in inpatient, outpatient and community settings. Access to in-house supervision, training and reflective practice would be encouraged, as well as external CPD, where relevant to the role.
If you would like to find out more about this role and the service, you are very welcome to contact Dr Grainne O'Brien (Senior Clinical Psychologist) on grainne.obrien@nhs.scot or Dr Audrey Matthews (Senior Clinical Psychologist) on audrey.matthews@nhs.scot.
