Job summary

Randox Laboratories in Warrington is recruiting Laboratory Assistants for our busy facility. Two vacancies exist: a full-time role (40 hours) and a part-time role (16 hours per week).

You will handle samples from Randox Health clinics and third parties, supporting routine clinical testing in a busy laboratory environment. Essential criteria include A-level science, ability to work evenings, transport to site, strong teamwork, attention to detail and computer literacy.

Qualifications

• Qualified to at least A level or equivalent in a science subject.
• Available to work the evening hours mentioned.
• Access to own transport to cover the shift time/location.

Responsibilities

• Routine use of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Receipt and accession of external, Randox Health, Clinical Trial, Internal R&D, Production, EQA and QC samples for analysis.
• Specimen analysis, storage and disposal.
• Maintenance of sample inventory.
• Adherence to chain of custody procedures throughout the analytical process.
• Operation and maintenance of SYSMEX XS-1000i haematology, urinalysis and ESR analysers.
• Ownership of EQA schemes for urine dipstick, urine chemistries and Full Blood Count; reviewing and storing quality control records.
• Maintenance of stock control in laboratory.
• Removal of expired products.
• Preparation of specimens for transport to safeguard stability.
• Recording and monitoring temperatures for laboratory equipment.

Laboratory Assistant – Warrington (Job Ref: 26/LDLA)

We have 2 opportunities for full time Laboratory Assistants at our laboratory in Warrington. In this role you will be working with samples from both our Randox Health clinics and 3rd parties in our busy Warrington laboratory.

Location: Unit 2 Bishops Court. Warrington, WA2 8QY.

Contract Offered: 1 x Full time (40 hours per week), permanent. 1 x Part-time (16 hours per week) Permanent.

Working Hours / Shifts: 1 x Full time – 40 hours per week: Alternating between 10.30am to 7.10pm and 8:40am to 5:20pm across Monday to Friday and Tuesday to Saturday. 1 x Part-time role 8.40am-5.20pm Sunday and Mondays only (16 hours per week).

Please note due to the working hours and location of our laboratory, public transport is not easily accessible for the shift finish times.

This role will require the successful candidates to be vaccinated against Hepatitis B before commencing employment. If you don’t have this, Randox will reimburse you for the cost of being vaccinated.

What does this role involve?

This role is responsible for assisting with routine clinical testing in our laboratory. The main duties of the role include:

• Routine use of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMs).
• Receipt and accession of external, Randox Health, Clinical Trial, Internal R&D, Production, EQA and QC Samples for Analysis.
• Specimen Analysis, Storage and Disposal.
• Maintenance of Sample Inventory.
• Strict adherence to chain of custody procedures throughout the analytical process.
• Operation and Maintenance of SYSMEX XS-1000i Haematology, Urinalysis and Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) analysers.
• Ownership of External Quality Control (EQA) Schemes for Urine Dipstick, Urine Chemistries and Full Blood Count involving the review, filing and storage of quality control records.
• Maintenance of Stock Control in laboratory.
• Removal of expired products.
• The preparation of specimens for transportation to ensure that their stability is safeguarded during shipment to the appropriate analytical laboratory.
• Recording and monitoring of temperatures for laboratory equipment.
