Job summary

NSG Environmental Ltd is recruiting for a technician role focused on plant operations, installation, dismantling and maintenance in nuclear environments. You will work on equipment and projects across site/workshop settings, reporting to a supervisor and ensuring documentation is complete.

The role requires hands-on capability with mechanical assemblies, adherence to safety standards and the ability to work overtime as needed. DV clearance is essential.

Qualifications

Advanced apprenticeship orNVQ Level 4 in mechanical engineering is required.
NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in mechanical engineering is essential.
GCSE at C or above in English/Maths/Science or technical subject is desirable.
CSCS card for relevant trade is desirable.
Level 2 Health & Safety in the Workplace or equivalent - training provided if required

Responsibilities

Carry out assembly/installation/maintenance/dismantling of general plant and equipment.
Complete and maintain records and documentation as required.
Support site/workshop operations and liaise with Supervisor and colleagues.
Contribute to business development through internal referral and information sharing.

NSG Environmental Ltd has been delivering work programmes in the nuclear industry for over 40 years. Traditionally in the areas of decommissioning and waste management, NSG now has a broad customer base and provides a wide spectrum of services across the nuclear project lifecycle, ranging from expert consultancy support, R&D and engineering design to rekit and refurbishment, site installation services and high-hazard physical decommissioning works, amongst others. This work is delivered at NSG’s own offices and purpose-built facilities and nuclear sites across the UK. The delivery and management of these projects and programmes of work is carried out by a skilled workforce composed of both white-collar and blue-collar personnel in technical, administrative, and physical roles.

The Role

To competently perform plant operations, installations, handling, assembly, dismantling and other activities on equipment or within the site/workshop environment, and as instructed by Supervisor/Site Supervisor.

Key Objectives

Study & Training

Review skill levels and update them as necessary to competently carry out the tasks required of a Technician. This will include:
Basic Health & Safety [British Safety Council level 2 or IOSH managing safely]
Lifting and Slinging qualification
5S Standards

Project Delivery and Operations Support

Carry out tasks as required for specific projects including the assembly / installation / maintenance / operation and / or dismantling of
general plant and equipment
development / test rigs
Complete and maintain as necessary all associated records and documentation

Internal Communication and Liaison

Contribute to the development of business by internal referral and communication of appropriate information and intelligence

Person Specification

Qualifications

Advanced apprenticeship / NVQ Level 4 or BTEC - Essential
NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in a relevant mechanical engineering discipline - Essential
GCSE at 'C' grade or above in English, Mathematics, Science or technical subject - Desirable
CSCS card for relevant trade - Desirable
Level 2 Health & Safety in the Workplace or equivalent - Relevant training will be provided if required

Experience & Knowledge

Manufacture and fitting of mechanical parts & assemblies - Essential
Familiar with site / factory work environments - Essential
Lifting & Slinging experience - Essential
Work experience within engineering, science or construction environment - Desirable
Used to dealing with confidential and commercial information - Desirable
Familiar with QSHEW operating procedures and requirements etc. - Desirable
