Job summary

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions in the United Kingdom is seeking a Shift Engineer to provide 24-hour monitoring, emergency maintenance and technical resource on site. You will manage safe, compliant operation and ensure regulatory standards are met across critical systems.

Key duties include monitoring BMS alarms, detailed handovers between shifts, responding to fire alarms, and carrying out planned and reactive maintenance.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Maintenance Technician within a similar sector.
• Working knowledge ofPermit to work systems.
• Understand and interpret technical drawings / processes.
• Experience of CMMS and BMS systems.
• Aptitude for electrical and mechanical engineering.
• Good building services knowledge.
• Ability to work autonomously.
• High attention to detail.
• Experience of Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Organised with excellent time management skills.
• Flexible and positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Monitor & respond to the Building Management System (BMS) alarms on site.
• Complete a detailed handover between shifts, including outstanding BMS alarms.
• React to fire alarms and assist security with response and isolation as required.
• Carry out planned maintenance such as replenishing water softener salt bins, taking meter readings, ladder checks, fire door checks.
• Undertake reactive maintenance to sustain services.
• Conduct site walk rounds at 6-hour intervals.
• Develop an understanding of site layout, functions and assets.
• Supervise and escort contractors and service engineers per site policies.
• Adhere to risk assessments, method statements and Safe Systems of Work.
• Carry out additional duties as reasonably required.
