Job summary

The Urgent Mental Health Helpline provides a 24/7 urgent referral management service and a public-facing crisis line for adults (18+) across Kent and Medway.

The role is a permanent Band 6 position based at sites including St Martins Hospital and others, involving triage, clinical guidance to Call Handlers, staff supervision, and contributing to service development. UK registration in nursing or OT is required.

Qualifications

• Essential: Professional qualification in mental health nursing or occupational therapy.
• Essential: Registration with the relevant regulatory body.
• Desirable: Lean improvement methodology (White/Yellow Belt).

Responsibilities

• Answer calls from the public and professionals.
• Undertake telephone triage assessments.
• Provide clinical guidance to Call Handler colleagues.
• Coordinate shifts and manage staffing resources to meet demand.
• Provide supervision to staff members.
• Lead team huddles and participate in team meetings.
• Contribute to service design via improvement projects.
