Job summary

National Gas Transmission PLC in Warwick is seeking an Operations Engineer to monitor and control the National Transmission System from our 24/7 Control Centre. The role involves real-time decision making, incident response and collaboration with suppliers, customers and internal teams.

You will work a continuous 24/7 shift pattern, hold a degree in engineering or equivalent, and ensure safe, reliable gas transport across Great Britain. Attractive pension and performance bonuses are offered.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent knowledge/experience.
• Clear communication with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Proven decision-making in high-pressure environments.
• Ability to analyse technical information and make quick operational assessments.
• Willingness to work a continuous 24/7 shift pattern.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Knowledge of real-time transmission system operations.
• Understanding of gas safety legislation and procedures.
• Experience in a safety-critical operational environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control the real-time performance of the National Transmission System.
• Develop and implement in-day/ day-ahead operating strategies for safe operation.
• Respond to changing network conditions and incidents quickly.
• Authorize operational activities and support Safe Control of Operations.
• Monitor Alarms and escalate as needed.
• Collaborate with suppliers, shippers, distribution networks, customers and internal teams.
• Support gas supply emergencies and contribute to improvement projects.
