Job summary

Digital Realty is seeking a Site Engineer I (Shift Relief) in the United Kingdom to maintain 24/7 shift coverage across our campus. You will ensure reliable operation of critical infrastructure through proactive maintenance, testing and monitoring of installed assets to meet SLAs and client expectations.

When not covering shifts, you will support day-to-day operations, training and development, and stay aligned with safety standards while collaborating with senior engineers and site management.

Qualifications

• Experience in site operations and maintenance of large-scale electrotechnical and/or mechanical systems.
• Formal vocational-level education (apprenticeship) required.
• Familiarity with data centre critical plant components is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for shift cover requirements across units, day and night.
• Hold full shift engineer competency for both sites and operate to standards of a permanent shift engineer.
• Self-manage the shift relief rota with a rolling three-month look-ahead.
• Meet contracted hours on a quarterly basis, prioritising shift cover.
• Ensure adequate rest between shifts and escalate gaps as needed.
• Communicate changes to cover promptly to stakeholders.
• Support weekday operations and training when not on shift.
