Job summary

WSP is inviting graduates to join our Mining teams in 2027 across the UK, including Leeds and London. This two-year Graduate Development Programme blends structured learning, mentoring and hands-on project experience, enabling you to contribute to international mining projects from early on while developing technical and digital skills.

You will work across Mine Water, Mine Waste and Mine Engineering, collaborating with teams in the UK, Ireland and global network to design, monitor and implement

Qualifications

• You will have or be on track to achieve at least a 2:2 in a relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree.
• You will be looking to start work in April or September 2027.
• You will have an interest in Mine Waste, Mine Water or Mine Engineering, and be keen to develop your understanding of design, geotechnical structures, monitoring tools and technical data.
• You will be comfortable sharing ideas, asking questions and working with others across project teams.
• You will be curious, adaptable and motivated to help solve complex challenges linked to responsible mining, environmental protection and sustainable resource development.

Responsibilities

• As a graduate, you could contribute to international projects that combine science, engineering and environmental thinking to help mining projects operate more safely, responsibly and sustainably.
• The Mine Water and Mine Waste specialists help clients manage environmental and engineering challenges including surface water, groundwater, hydrology, geochemistry and tailings.

A little bit more about your role and the team ….. At WSP, our Mining teams support clients across the full mining life cycle, from early-stage studies and design through to operations, closure and long-term stewardship. As a graduate, you could contribute to international projects that combine science, engineering and environmental thinking to help mining projects operate more safely, responsibly and sustainably.

Our Mine Water and Mine Waste specialists help clients manage complex environmental and engineering challenges. In Mine Water, this could include work around surface water, groundwater, water quality, hydrology, hydrogeology and geochemistry. In Mine Waste, you could support projects involving tailings, waste rock and other facilities, helping inform safe design, risk management, closure planning and protection of people and the environment.

You may also work with our Mine Engineering teams, helping to develop practical, technically robust solutions for mine infrastructure, engineering design and ground stability. The work is collaborative and varied, bringing together specialists from across the UK, Ireland and our wider global network .
