Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer to help assess how ground conditions influence planning, design and delivery of major projects across transport, energy and infrastructure.

You will gain hands-on experience across the project lifecycle—from ground investigations to reporting and construction support—while working with multidisciplinary teams to build technical confidence and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• You will have, or be on track to achieve, at least a 2:2 in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology.
• Interest in geology, ground engineering and how decisions shape civil projects.
• Willing to travel for site work and learn from multidisciplinary teams.

A little bit more about your role and the team ...

As a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer, you will help us understand how ground conditions influence the way major projects are planned, designed and delivered across sectors including transport, energy, housing, flood resilience, tunnelling and infrastructure.

You will gain hands‑on experience across the project lifecycle, from ground investigation and data interpretation through to design, reporting and construction support, helping to create practical solutions for complex engineering challenges.

Working with multidisciplinary teams and experienced colleagues, you’ll build your technical confidence, apply engineering judgement and contribute to projects that make a lasting difference for clients and communities.

What we’re looking for

• You will have, or be on track to achieve, at least a 2:2 in a relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree. This could include Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology . Graduates Earth and Environment
• You will be looking to start work in September 2027.
• You will have an interest in geology, ground engineering and how technical decisions shape the design and delivery of civil engineering projects.
• You will be curious, analytical and motivated to solve technical challenges linked to sustainable project delivery.
• You will be comfortable collaborating with others, sharing ideas and learning from different specialists across project teams.
• You will be able to share ideas clearly, ask questions and explain technical information in reports and project discussions.
• You will be keen to learn, take ownership and broaden your skills with support from experienced colleagues.
• You will be willing to travel for site work.
