You will be joining the learning disability nursing workforce at an exciting time of progress and development. Within NHS GGC, learning disability nurses work in inpatient or community services.
The role of a Learning Disability Nurse is to support individuals and their families to meet health needs and help individuals reach their potential and live meaningful lives.
As a Learning Disability Nurse, you will work across the lifespan, addressing diverse health needs from early diagnosis to end-of-life care. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team within healthcare settings and contribute to:
Learning Disability Nurses may also be considered for roles in Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services, Prison Healthcare (Addictions Team), Forensic Mental Health Services, and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. Supporting your career development
In your first year, you will undertake the newly registered nurse programme, supporting your transition from student to registered professional. This includes induction, preceptorship, clinical supervision, and Scotland’s Flying Start development programme.
As a Band 5 Nurse, you will work alongside experienced colleagues, with guidance from senior staff and dedicated education teams to support your growth.

The Greater Glasgow and Clyde area offers vibrant city life, lush countryside, and seaside attractions. It is culturally diverse, architecturally stunning, and historically rich, with excellent transport links to hospital sites.
