Two postdoctoral researchers are being recruited for the Global Priorities Research Group (GPRG) led by Associate Professorial Research Fellow Andreas L. Mogensen. Each postdoctoral researcher will be hosted at the Centre for Philosophy of Natural and Social Science (CPNSS) at the LSE. Each position is tenable in the first instance for four years. GPRG is a newly established research group at CPNSS, and successful candidates will have the opportunity to help shape its research agenda and strategic direction.
The successful candidate will conduct innovative and significant research as part of the project team, working collaboratively with Andreas L. Mogensen and other members of the research group, as well as other collaborators at the LSE or elsewhere. At least 50% of their time will be spent on topics directly relevant to the group’s research agenda, which they will help to set. The research group’s mission is to pursue philosophical research relevant to identifying, prioritising among, and addressing the world’s most pressing problems, with particular emphasis on examining the priorities suggested by impartial considerations of wellbeing and ethical questions arising therefrom. The ability to produce research related to large-scale risks and opportunities associated with the advent of transformative artificial intelligence is desirable but not essential.
Ideally, the successful applicant will begin in September 2027.
