Job summary

National Grid is seeking an Overhead Line Electricity Distribution Network Technician in Stoke to support the 33kV and 132kV network. You will lead day-to-day site activities, supervise a team, coordinate work, and ensure safety compliance and quality in line with procedures.

Ideal candidates have City & Guilds qualifications, overhead line experience, and a willingness to achieve higher authorisations. A full UK driving licence and flexibility for standby duties are expected.

Qualifications

• Level 2 City & Guilds 2339 (essential).
• Level 3 City & Guilds qualification, or willingness to undertake.
• Proven overhead lines experience, ideally within a DNO, transmission or major projects environment.
• Experience on steel tower (pylon) infrastructure.
• Competence in receiving and working under permits on pylons.
• Switching experience up to 132kV, or working towards authorisations.
• Senior Authorised Person up to 132kV or willingness to achieve this authorisation.
• Full, valid UK driving licence and mobility across the West Midlands area.
• Computer literacy and ability to use digital tools and systems.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with stakeholders.
• Flexible and proactive approach to changing priorities.
• Willingness to undertake standby duties as required.

Responsibilities

• Issue appropriate safety documentation and ensure activities comply with safety standards.
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of colleagues, contractors, and the public.
• Manage allocated jobs per company policies and requirements.
• Follow work instructions to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Liaise with stakeholders to support safe, effective project outcomes.
• Mentor and support trainees and apprentices to develop skills.
• Carry out other tasks appropriate to the Technician role.
