Job description

Our client, a leading player in the energy sector, is currently seeking an 11KV Design Engineer to join their permanent team in Manchester.

Key Skills Required:

11kv Electrical Design, DNO & IDNO's, AutoCAD, MicroStation, ENA, G81

Key Responsibilities:

1. Analyzing plans, bills of quantities, and other project documentation to estimate costs
2. Undertaking desktop site surveys and liaising with customers to identify their requirements
3. Liaising with DNOs to obtain budget quotations and connection offers
4. Collaborating with IDNOs to obtain quotations for Asset Values
5. Researching, sourcing, negotiating, and obtaining the best prices and quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
6. Producing electrical designs and documentation following ENA G81 standards
7. Creating electrical estimates to support design delivery and meet customer requirements
8. Preparing clear scope of works for clients
9. Attending design review meetings with clients, DNOs, and IDNOs
10. Submitting connection applications and supporting customers through the process
11. Generating Design Approval packs for submission
12. Ensuring designs meet requirements, deadlines, and budget constraints
13. Conducting technical audits on team-produced designs
14. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations and standards
15. Providing technical support to team members
16. Handover of approved designs to construction teams
17. Managing project design changes and cost variations
18. Submitting monthly project reports to the Head of ICP

Principal Accountabilities:

2. Producing accurate, competitive designs and estimates to generate revenue
3. Ensuring customer satisfaction through quality project delivery
4. Ensuring compliance with internal processes and continuous improvement
5. Managing suppliers for optimal delivery and profitability

7. Motivating team members for talent retention and engagement
8. Representing the company positively

Job Requirements:

• Qualification in Electrical Engineering or related field
• Full UK driving license
• Knowledge of ENA G81 standards
• Experience in electrical design, preferably in utilities or ICP
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Strong problem-solving and creative thinking abilities
• Ability to manage multiple projects within deadlines and budgets
