Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in a Liverpool school, focusing on learning, communication, wellbeing and inclusion. The role involves using BSL to facilitate access to learning and build strong relationships with the pupil.

The successful candidate will work with the class teacher, SENCO and others to provide personalised support, maintain records and contribute to review and support plans, ensuring safeguarding for the pupil at all times.

Qualifications

• BSL Level 2 qualification required.
• Experience with children or young people, preferably in education or SEND.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, flexible and supportive approach.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to the pupil throughout the school day.
• Use British Sign Language (BSL) to support communication and access to learning.
• Adapt activities and resources to meet the pupil's needs.
• Support the pupil's academic, social and emotional development.
• Encourage independence and active participation in school life.
• Collaborate with teaching staff, parents/carers and external professionals where appropriate.
