Job summary

Axcis Education is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in a mainstream primary school in the Chorley area. You will provide tailored, consistent support across the school day and work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to foster independence and positive engagement.

Ideal candidates have UK SEND experience, an enhanced DBS on the Update Service, and are available Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm. Travel to Chorley and surrounding areas is expected.

Qualifications

• Have at least 6 months' relevant UK SEND experience.
• Be aged 18 or over.
• Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
• Be available Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm.
• Have experience or confidence providing 1:1 support.
• Be confident managing behaviour and supporting emotional regulation.
• Be patient, resilient, proactive and able to use your initiative.
• Be comfortable supporting children with high levels of SEND need.
• Be reliable and able to commit to consistent support.
• Be able to travel reliably to Chorley and surrounding areas.
• Have an overseas police clearance certificate for any country where you have spent six months or more within the last five years (where applicable).

1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant – Primary School – Chorley Mainstream Primary School | Monday–Friday Are you passionate about making a genuine difference in a child's education? Do you have the patience, confidence and experience to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a child with additional needs? Axcis Education is looking for a caring, confident and resilient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil within a mainstream primary school in the Chorley area. This is a rewarding but demanding opportunity for someone who understands that every child has different needs and can provide consistent, tailored support throughout the school day. We need someone who can build a strong relationship with their pupil, encourage independence and confidently manage situations where behaviour, communication or emotional regulation may present challenges.

The Role

You will be working on a 1:1 basis with a pupil who requires additional support to access learning and participate in school life.

• Have experience or confidence providing 1:1 support.

Who Would Suit This Role?

We are looking for someone who is calm under pressure, confident in their approach and genuinely passionate about supporting children with additional needs. You must understand the importance of consistency, clear boundaries and building trust. The ability to adapt quickly, think on your feet and remain positive during challenging moments is essential. Previous experience supporting children with autism, ADHD, communication difficulties, learning difficulties or social, emotional and mental health needs would be beneficial.

Location & Working Hours

Location: Chorley and surrounding areas. Setting: Mainstream primary school. Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm. Reliable travel to the school is essential.
