1:1 Teaching Assistant – Specialist SEN School
Location: Blackburn
Pay Rate: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour
Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent

We are currently seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive specialist SEN school in Blackburn. This is a temp to perm opportunity, ideal for someone looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people with special educational needs.

Role Overview:
You will work on a one-to-one basis with pupils who require additional support to access their learning. This role is vital in helping students achieve their potential both academically and emotionally within a nurturing and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored one-to-one support to pupils with a range of special educational needs.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Assist with classroom activities, ensuring the student is engaged and supported.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • Support with personal care, where required.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN is highly desirable.
  • A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach to working with students.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
