Job summary

Oaklands College is seeking a dedicated Student Support Assistant to work within the Foundation into Vocational Studies team across Springfield, Supportive Learning and Foundation into Vocational areas. The role supports young adults aged 16 to 24 with disabilities and complex needs, working toward EHCP targets and independent living skills.

This is a term-time only post with 1:1 student support and potential personal care requirements. Prior experience in education settings is a requirement.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting students aged 16–24 with additional needs.
• Ability to follow EHCP targets and maintain records.
• Prior experience in education settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set SMART targets from EHCP outcomes with tutors.
• Support students with complex behaviours to reduce incidents.
• Assist students in classroom activities and practical tasks.
• Administer medication under nursing direction and support medical needs.
• Support personal care and independence in daily living.
• Keep notes and observations on college monitoring software and ensure risk assessments are current.
• Communicate daily with tutors about student issues.
• Lead activities informally when session tutors are unavailable.
