Job summary

AP Education seeks dedicated SEND Tutors for 1:1 support in Southampton, Hampshire. You will deliver core subjects or SEND content with a therapeutic, flexible approach to meet each learner's needs.

Ideal candidates have SEND/SEMH teaching experience, a background in education or therapy, and QTS or HLTA preferred. DBS checks and safeguarding are integral, with guaranteed weekly pay and tailored learning resources.

Qualifications

• Proven experience teaching or tutoring children with SEND/SEMH needs.
• Background in education, youth work, or therapeutic settings is desirable.
• QTS or HLTA preferred; applicants with UK experience without qualifications are welcome.

Responsibilities

• Deliver core subjects (Maths, English, Science) or SEND-specific content.
• Implement effective behaviour management using positive strategies.
• Provide a therapeutic and adaptable approach to education to meet individual needs.
• Perform baseline academic and emotional assessments to inform targeted support.
• Prepare progress reports and liaise with external professionals to enable multi-agency collaboration.
• Manage attendance reporting via attendance software.
• Assist learners in transitioning to mainstream or specialist settings as appropriate.
