Job summary

AP Education is seeking dedicated SEND Tutors to provide 1:1 support in Hailsham, East Sussex. You will work with learners with SEND/SEMH across Early Years to KS4, delivering core subjects or SEND-specific help in a flexible, term-time setting.

You will build positive behaviour strategies, perform baseline assessments, and liaise with external professionals as needed. Join a team that values safeguarding, ongoing CPD, and immediate onboarding for qualified or experienced UK tutors.

Qualifications

• Proven experience teaching or tutoring children with SEND/SEMH.
• Background in education, youth work, or therapeutic settings.
• QTS or HLTA certification preferred; UK experience without qualifications considered.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, dependable, initiative-taking mindset.

Responsibilities

• Deliver face-to-face 1:1 support with students from Early Years to KS4.
• Implement effective behaviour management using positive strategies.
• Provide a therapeutic and adaptable approach to meet individual needs.
• Perform baseline academic and emotional assessments.
• Prepare detailed daily/weekly progress reports and liaise with external professionals as needed.
• Manage daily attendance reporting via our attendance software.
• Assist learners in transitioning to mainstream or specialist education settings.
