Job summary

AP Education is seeking dedicated SEND Tutors to provide 1:1 support for learners with SEND/SEMH in Basingstoke, Hampshire, and surrounding areas during term-time. You will support students from Early Years to KS4, delivering core subjects or SEND-specific sessions in person.

You will implement positive behaviour strategies, tailor approaches to individual needs, and compile progress reports while coordinating with external professionals as needed.

Qualifications

• Proven experience teaching or tutoring children with SEND/SEMH.
• Background in education, youth work, or therapeutic settings.
• QTS or HLTA preferred; two years UK experience welcome.

Responsibilities

• Deliver face-to-face 1:1 support for learners.
• Implement behaviour management using positive strategies.
• Provide a therapeutic and adaptable approach to education.
• Perform baseline assessments to inform targeted support.
• Prepare progress reports and liaise with SALT/OT/Social Workers as needed.
• Manage attendance reporting via attendance software.
• Assist learners in transitioning to mainstream or specialist settings.
