Job summary

Lancashire County Council is seeking a temporary SEND Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with an EHCP on a 1:1 basis at Burscough Bridge Methodist Primary School. The role emphasizes adapting strategies to enable greater curriculum access, initially in EYFS.

You will collaborate with the class teacher, SENCo and families, using visual timetables and calm routines to foster emotional regulation and safe, engaging learning experiences.

Qualifications

• GCSE English (Grade C+ ) or equivalent.
• GCSE Maths (Grade C+ ) or equivalent.
• TA NVQ level 2 or above qualification.
• Enhanced DBS clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
• Support communication using visual timetables and structured routines.
• Deliver personalised learning and play activities.
• Support transitions, emotional regulation and positive social interactions.
• Promote safety during indoor, outdoor and physical activities.
• Assist with personal care and self-help routines.
• Monitor progress and maintain EHCP records.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, parents and external professionals.
