Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment seeks a dedicated 1:1 SEND Support Assistant to work with a pupil at a Sutton special school. This role is term-time, Mon-Fri 9:00–15:45, September 2026 start, supporting a pupil with Autism, SEMH needs and non-verbal communication.

You will work closely with teachers and therapists to promote engagement, emotional regulation, and independent learning in a calm, encouraging environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Ability to support pupils with autism and SEMH needs.
• Patience, resilience and ability to stay calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated one-to-one support throughout the school day.
• Support the pupil during lessons and help engagement with learning activities.
• Supervise and assist the pupil when moving around the school.
• Use positive behaviour strategies to manage challenging situations.
• Encourage communication, emotional regulation and independence.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and other professionals to achieve good outcomes.
